Three steps, seriously.

1

Install it

Add to Chrome. Takes about 30 seconds. No account or signup.

2

Browse normally

You'll see a small button in the corner of every page. It doesn't do anything until you tap it.

3

Tap when suspicious

Get a verdict in plain English. Green is solid, red is sketchy, orange means check a little closer — with a short explanation either way.

Four things, every time.

01

Written by AI?

A lot of junk articles online are written by computers, not people. We spot the ones that no human actually wrote.

02

Actually true?

Does the article cite real sources? Do the claims hold up? Or is someone just making stuff up?

03

Who wrote it?

Some outlets have a track record. We know which ones tend to get it right and which ones don't.

04

Trying to trick you?

Rage-bait headlines, fear tactics, emotional manipulation. If the article is playing you, we'll say so.

We call it like we see it.

We don't care which side wrote it. If the article is garbage, we'll tell you. Left-wing rage-bait gets the same treatment as right-wing conspiracy stuff. The point is to catch bad information, not push a viewpoint.

partisanleft.com "EXPOSED: Republican Plot to Destroy Social Security" Unreliable
freedomeagle.news "Democrats' Secret Plan to Ban All Private Gun Ownership" Unreliable
truthactivist.org "Big Pharma Exposed Hiding Cure for Common Diseases" Unreliable

Same standard, regardless of who's writing.

Tech-savvy? After your 30 days, you can connect your own AI account and skip the monthly fee. We have a guide.

This is just the beginning.

We're building more tools to help with scam emails, weird popups, and all the other stuff that makes the internet annoying. Be the first to know.

You're on the list. We'll let you know when it's ready.

Why not just use NewsGuard?

Other tools rate domains. We read the actual page you're on, right now, and tell you what it's doing.

Honest caveat: BYOK mode requires setting up an API key with Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar. We have a guide, but it takes 5 minutes. Managed mode ($5) requires zero setup.

Questions we keep getting.

No. Digital Grandson does nothing until you tap the button. There are no background trackers, no constant scanning, no analytics running on every page. It sits dormant until you ask it to work.
We don't monitor your browsing. When you click Analyze, we read up to 6,000 characters of visible page text. If that's not enough for the analysis to work properly (some pages bury their content deep), we collect up to 12,000 characters — but never more than that. In managed mode, that text goes to our server to call the AI; we log the first 500 characters, verdict, and scores to measure accuracy, and strip user IDs after 90 days. In BYOK mode, your text goes straight from your browser to your AI provider — never through us. Full details in our privacy policy.
Yes. After your 30-day managed period, or right from the start if you prefer, you can connect your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or Moonshot. In BYOK mode, analysis is free forever — you pay the AI provider directly (usually a few cents per check). We have a setup guide in the extension settings.
It's good. Really good at catching the obvious stuff: clickbait, bot-written articles, unsourced claims, emotional manipulation. Not perfect — no automated tool is — but it catches things most people would miss, and it explains its reasoning so you can judge for yourself.
It works on the vast majority of news sites, blogs, and article pages. It may not work well on paywalled content (it can only read what's visible), very short pages, or purely visual pages. Social media feeds are not supported yet — that's on the roadmap.
Yes. We only see what you choose to check — we never monitor your browsing. Your analysis results aren't tied to your identity. Full details in our privacy policy.
Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi. Anything Chromium-based. Firefox and Safari are on the to-do list.
Two options: subscribe to the monthly plan ($5/mo, we handle everything) or connect your own AI account and use it free. We have a guide that walks you through the setup if you go that route.
Think of it as a password for a service we use behind the scenes. You can get your own (free to create) and skip our monthly fee. You'd pay the service directly, usually a few cents per check. We have a setup guide.
Right now Digital Grandson checks articles and images. We're working on tools for scam emails, sketchy links, and confusing software popups. Sign up above if you want early access to new features.
