Terms of Service

These terms are written in plain English so you can actually understand them. By installing or using Digital Grandson, you agree to the following. If you don't agree, please don't use the extension.

What Digital Grandson does

Digital Grandson is a Chrome browser extension that acts as a real-time media trust and authenticity layer for the web. When you click "Analyze," it uses artificial intelligence to evaluate web page content for trustworthiness, checking for signs of misinformation, manipulation tactics, source reliability, and more. You can also scan images and videos for AI-generated content using multiple detection services (Sightengine, Hive AI, Google Gemini Vision, C2PA Content Credentials, and IPTC metadata). Results are presented in plain English so you can make informed decisions about what you read and see online.

Pricing and payment

• One-time purchase ($5): A one-time payment of $5 gets you the Digital Grandson extension and includes 30 days of fully managed service. During this period, all AI analysis is handled for you. No API keys or technical setup needed.
• After 30 days, you have two options:

• Monthly plan ($5/month): Continue using our managed AI service with no setup required. We handle everything. Cancel anytime.
• Bring Your Own Keys (BYOK), free forever: Enter your own API keys from any supported AI provider and use Digital Grandson at no additional cost, forever. You pay the AI providers directly for usage.

All prices are in US dollars. We may change pricing in the future, but we will always notify existing users before any price changes take effect.

Acceptable use

Digital Grandson is designed for personal, individual use. You agree not to:

• Scrape or harvest data. Do not use Digital Grandson to systematically collect, extract, or store analysis results at scale.
• Run automated bulk analysis. The extension is meant for manual, click-triggered analysis. Do not automate, script, or programmatically trigger analyses.
• Redistribute results. Do not resell, republish, or redistribute Digital Grandson's analysis output as part of another product or service.
• Reverse-engineer the extension. Do not attempt to decompile, disassemble, or reverse-engineer the extension or its analysis methods.
• Violate applicable laws. Do not use Digital Grandson in any way that violates local, state, national, or international law.

Normal personal use (checking articles, verifying headlines, scanning images) is always fine. That's what we built it for.

Important disclaimer

AI analysis is probabilistic, not definitive. Digital Grandson is designed to help you think more critically about online content. It is not a replacement for your own judgment. This means:

• Trust scores, verdicts, and AI detection results are best-effort assessments based on available signals. They can be wrong.
• No automated system is 100% accurate. Our analysis is a well-informed second opinion, not an absolute fact-check.
• You should always consider multiple sources and use your own critical thinking when evaluating information.

We are not liable for any decisions you make based on Digital Grandson's analysis results. Whether you choose to trust or distrust a piece of content based on our analysis, that decision is yours. We provide a tool to assist your thinking, not to think for you.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Digital Grandson and Digital Grandson shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding any claim.

Refund policy

• $5 one-time purchase: This purchase is non-refundable. You receive immediate access to the extension and 30 days of managed service upon purchase.
• Monthly plan: You can cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will continue to have access until then. We do not provide partial refunds for unused portions of a billing period.

Account termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Digital Grandson if we determine, in our sole discretion, that you have violated these terms or are abusing the service. This includes but is not limited to automated bulk usage, scraping, redistribution of results, or any behavior that disrupts the service for others. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before or at the time of suspension.

You can stop using Digital Grandson at any time by simply uninstalling the extension.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the extension or by email. The updated terms will always be posted on this page with a new effective date. Your continued use of Digital Grandson after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) mode

If you choose to use BYOK mode, you are responsible for:

• Your API keys. You are solely responsible for the security and proper use of any API keys you enter into the extension. We do not store, transmit, or have access to your API keys. They remain on your device.
• Provider terms. Your use of third-party AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Moonshot, Sightengine) is governed by their respective terms of service. You are responsible for complying with those terms.
• Usage costs. Any API usage charges incurred through your own keys are your responsibility. We have no visibility into or control over your usage or billing with third-party providers.

Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Digital Grandson shall be resolved in the courts of the State of New York.
